After earning a B.A. in print journalism from the University of Montana, I put my reporting and writing skills to work for Outside magazine in Santa Fe, New Mexico, and Outlaw Partners in Big Sky, Montana. At Outlaw,  I led coverage for Big Sky's biweekly newspaper and contributed editing and writing to Mountain Outlaw magazine and Explore Yellowstone visitor's guide. 

A native of Billings, Montana, and current resident of Bozeman, I love travel – particularly if mountains and rivers are involved – and a good story, well told. Before I settled into my career as a journalist, I worked for the U.S. Forest Service as a wildland firefighter and guided clients down New Zealand's mighty Whanganui River as a multi-day canoe guide. On occasion, I trade my pen for a camera to tell stories from a different angle.
